The Proctor Highway Department is staffed with three full-time employees. The Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of approximately 22 ¼ miles of Town roads, including bridges, sidewalks, the storm water collection system, and public buildings and lands. They also assist the Water & Sewer Department, Recreation Department, and other Town entities as needed. The Department maintains and operates a variety of equipment including single-axle dump trucks, backhoe, front-end loader, skid-steer, tractor with roadside mower attachment and a variety of hand and power tools.
In addition to routine operation and maintenance work (including winter snow and ice control and removal), the Department develops an annual work plan to provide more focused improvement to the Town’s highway and storm-water collection infrastructure. The Proctor Select Board approves the Highway Department’s annual work plan.
